Effective September 26, 2020 all workplaces in Ontario are required to screen all workers, contractors, volunteers, and outside services for COVID-19 as a condition of entry.

O. Reg 364/20 was amended including a requirement that "the person responsible for a business or organization that is open shall operate the business or organization in compliance with the advice, recommendations and instructions issued by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health on screening individuals."

The Ontario Ministry of Health has developed a COVID-19 Screening Tool for Workplaces document providing basic information and recommendations for COVID-19 screening as per O. Reg 364/20. It consists of three questions to which respondents must answer NO to be considered a pass. If YES is answered to any, the respondent will be advised to not enter the workplace. The screening tool also applies to any outdoor or partially outdoor workplace.

The screening does not apply to:

•    patrons entering a workplace, or

•    emergency services or other first responders entering a workplace for emergency purposes.
